Rome, 1st Italian city, ranks 39th on the Top World's Greenest Places. Stockholm, Oslo, Munich and Paris are in the top 4, according to a study of Matthew Kahn, PhD, environmental economist at UCLA's Institute of the Environment (University of California Los Angeles).

He analysed 72 major international cities and rank them in terms of beeing green and livable. The sources included among others the World Bank's Development Economic Research Group Estimates, and his own reporting on local environmental laws, energy prices, garbage production and disposal, and parkland.
